What changed my entire life?

I’m born into a Muslim family, but I’m also a revert.

Let me explain.

At 17, I stopped believing.

I wasn’t ever an atheist though, because I didn’t like the idea of blind faith—blind faith in God, or blind faith that there’s no God.

I was staunchly “spiritual but not religious”, lol.

10 years later, at 27, I came back to Islam ☪️

Just before Ramadan 24’, Allah blessed me with Hidayah (guidance)—there was no more denying the truth. He opened my heart 🫀

To be honest with you though , I wasn’t very knowledgeable.

So when people asked me what changed, I didn’t always have a good answer.

But I knew in my heart that I was making the right decision.

Why?

Because even before I started practicing, I started seeing blessings in my life.

  • I got a promotion at work.
  • I had lost 100+lbs 💪
  • I was happy again.

And what changed?

Well, I put in a lot of work to turn my life around, yes.

But it was Allah who gave me the drive and knowledge to do that.

For example, I could’ve submitted to my old lazy life, or been born disabled, or in a country without the opportunities I have.

Does that mean Allah loves me but not others?

Of course that’s not what I’m saying.

My life wasn’t without problems and it’s still not without problems today.

Some people have it way harder (just look at what’s happening in the world rn 🥲 I can’t imagine), and some people have easy lives.

After all, dunya is not our final destination. We all have our own test here.

But that’s when it struck me 💡

I didn’t choose to be born. I didn’t choose my blessings or my hardships. And it became painfully obvious that there’s a greater force at play behind the miracle that is this life, this moment.

I said I was “spiritual but not religious” before.

But I couldn’t tell you why or what that even means, because even I didn’t know. Any time it came up in conversation, I couldn’t articulate my thoughts clearly.

Because while I was seeking with the mind 🧠 my heart was closed to truth.

I grew comfortable in my ignorance.

But when I truly started appreciating life—the blessings and the hardship—Allah opened my heart 🫀

Alhamdulillah.

Allah even says in the Qu'ran in Surah Ibrahim, 14:7:

"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]"

I received my hidayah in Ramadan 24’. That's when I started praying. 5 times a day. Every. Single. Day.

And I never looked back.

Since then, I’ve been learning lots and I want to share my knowledge with you, which is why I started this journey.
