12,385 emails sent since October 2024

I started my daily-ish newsletter when I had thirty-something subscribers and Alhamdulillah, judging from feedback, engagement and leads generated, the emails have come a long way.

Gone are the days where I hit send worried whether:

* Anyone will read my emails.

* Subscribers will engage with my offers.

* I'm wasting my efforts.

Now, I follow the Tony Stark Protocol

My wife and I have been watching the early Marvel films starting from Iron Man, and we noticed something really cool.

Every time Tony runs into an issue with one of his suits in the field (such as his getting icy at high altitudes in the first movie), he always builds an upgraded version ironing out said kink(s).

And it's the same with your content game (not limited to emails—or content for that matter).

Having sent 12,385 emails, I've been able to accelerate the number of opportunities available to iterate on my strategy.

How? By building an intuition for what works and what doesn't.

These are the variables:

* Topics

* Subject line

* Types of stories

* Email length

* Placement of your CTA

* Layout and design

* Preview text

Like with Stark, it's a process of testing and improving.

Since the process is ongoing, though, what's important is to start.

If you already have a newsletter, set your intention to constantly improve on your efforts over time.

And if you haven't launched a newsletter, stop procrastinating.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it:

Email is the foundation of your creator business, not your 'Plan B'

There's also this notion some have expressed to me of "I'll launch my newsletter after I gaining a following".

Two obvious problems I see with this.

1) If you post content, you already have a following—even if it's just 10 people.

Are they not worth serving?

2) You'll need to put in time to get good, regardless of when you start.

Might as well invest in the time while less people are paying attention, rather than after you've built a (larger) following.
